Terms of service

These terms govern your use of Patriots Unite, operated by Digital Platforms Limited (company number 17087275, registered office 3rd Floor, 86-90 Paul Street, London, England, EC2A 4NE). By creating an account you agree to them.

1. What the service does

We check an email you upload against the cryptographic seal the sending organisation applied to it. Where that seal is valid and the email matches what we expect from that organisation, we issue a verification badge and a public page at a unique address.

Verification is free. Physical cards and merchandise are sold separately and are one-off purchases, not subscriptions.

2. We are independent

Patriots Unite is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or funded by any political party or organisation, including any organisation we verify. We do not campaign, donate, or take a position on any organisation's policies. Organisation names and marks are used only to identify who a verification relates to.

3. What a badge does and does not mean

This matters, so we are specific about it.

A badge means: on the date shown, we checked evidence and it held up.

A badge does not mean:

• that we have verified your identity. We verify control of an email address to which an organisation sent a sealed message. We do not check passports, addresses or names, and any name shown is one you supplied.
• that the membership is current. Membership can lapse, be cancelled or be revoked by the organisation at any time, and we will not necessarily know.
• that the organisation endorses the holder, or has any relationship with us.
• for badges shown as member portal verifications, that any payment has been made. Those establish only that the organisation's system holds an account for that address, and the badge says so.

Anyone relying on a badge does so on that basis and at their own risk.

4. Your account and your uploads

You agree that:

• you will upload only emails sent to you, at an address you control. Uploading someone else's email to claim their membership is a serious misuse and may be a criminal offence.
• you will not attempt to forge, alter or manufacture evidence, or to interfere with our checks.
• the information you publish, including any name, is accurate and is yours to publish.
• you will not use the service to harass, impersonate or expose anybody, or to compile information about other people's political affiliations.
• you are at least 16 years old.

We keep a record of verification attempts, successful or not, to detect misuse.

5. Suspension and removal

We may suspend or remove an account or revoke a verification, without notice, where we reasonably believe these terms have been broken, evidence was falsified, or a verification was issued in error. Where we can do so fairly we will tell you why and let you respond.

You may delete your account at any time from your account page. Deletion is immediate and permanent.

6. Availability

The service is provided as is and as available. We give no guarantee of uptime and may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it. Verification depends on how organisations send their email; if an organisation changes its systems, verification for it may stop working, and that is outside our control.

7. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, goodwill or reputation, or for any decision anybody makes in reliance on a badge. Our total liability arising from the service is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or £100.

8. Your responsibility to us

If we suffer loss because you have broken clause 4 — uploading someone else's email, falsifying evidence, or misusing the service against another person — you agree to cover the reasonable costs that follow.

9. Intellectual property

The site, its design, the crest and the verification system are ours. You may share your own verification page and badge freely. You may not copy the site, present our verifications as your own service, or scrape verification pages in bulk.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when. Where a change materially affects you we will email you, and continuing to use the service means you accept the revised terms.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom you may bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
